Multicell Power Supplies for Improved Energy Efficiency in the Information and Communications Technology Infrastructures

The rapid growth of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector requires additional infrastructure, such as more micro-datacenters telecom stations, to support higher internet speeds low latency requirements 5G networks. increased power new ICT technologies necessitate proposal supplies, in an attempt increase energy demand running costs. This work provides in-depth theoretical analysis on losses individual stages commercially available PSU proposes a multicell PSU, buck PFC converter, which offers overall efficiency at varying load levels. results are verified using simulation results, via PSIM Thermal Module, experimental data. indicate that structures can improve by 1.2% 50% rated than 2.1% full power. Finally, taking into consideration economic implications this study, it is shown proposed structure may costs 10.78%, but payback period order just 3.3 years.
